[ModMyGizmo] Installing Spire and Proxy List

As you may know, Siri is Apple's new Personal Assistant which is available exclusively for the iPhone 4S. Since its release, Apple fans have wanted to install siri to their devices. Many hackers were able to make illegal unstable versions of Siri for various iDevices. But now, hackers Grant Paul (chpwn) and Ryan Petrich were able to port a legal and highly stable Siri called Spire.

Siri has been tested on most jailbroken devices running iOS 5.0.1

This include iPhone 4 and 3gs, iPod Touch 3g and 4g and iPad 1. Since an Untethered Jailbreak for iPad is not yet out, it is not compatible with iPad 2.

Unlike many other ports for like h1siri, Spire is absolutely legal since it draws files from Apple's own server.

For Spire, your device has to be jailbroken which is legal, but voids your warranty.

→ A compatible iDevice with iOS 5.0.1

→ It should be jailbroken. The device will reboot after installation. So, if you have a tethered Jailbreak, you may have to boot it via PC. If you have a semi-tether, please do RESTORE the device and again jailbreak untethered or tethered since it is not compatible with SemiTether. If you have untethered jailbreak, its perfect.

If you want to jailbreak your device, here is my Guide.

→ Spire is about 100MB in size. So it is better to be in a WiFi Hotspot rather than using carrier network.

→ You will also need a host server for Spire from a friend having iPhone 4S or you can use any one from the list below.

Step 1 → Once Jailbroken, you will have Cydia on your Homescreen

Step 2 → Goto Cydia > Search > Spire > Install > Confirm

Step 3 → It will take some time to install. So be patient.

Step 4→ Once it is done, it will show an option to reboot. Do a reboot.

Step 5→ Goto Setting > General > Siri > On

Step 6 → Goto Settings > Spire > Proxy Host

here add a host which you have, or use one from the list below

Step 7 → Hold down the Home Button to ask Siri

If these give errors, donot worry. The servers are overloaded most of the time. Try more servers until you get one working. As days pass more and more servers will be available.
